MSR LADIES COMPLETE PIKES PEAK H.O.G. 5-1 HIGH ALTITUDE RUN
JULY 16, 2005
This year was the first 5-1 run for Karla, Nina and Carolee. The ride took the group over five passes that were over 10,000 feet in elevation. (Kenosha, Tennessee, Loveland, Vail, Berthoud )
Karla was invited to ride "sweep" for a group of 25+ bikes and did a super job!!! Even though the ride was sponsored by Pikes Peak Harley Owners Group - all types of bikes were in attendance. Carolee and Karla were on their "rice burners" and the new term for Nina's Ducati - PASTA BURNER! Over 300 motorcycles participated and a great time was had by all. The weather was super and not once did we have to break out our rain-gear!!
The only unplanned incident was the sudden loss of Carolee's foot peg from her highway bars - which unfortunately came off her bike on the way down Berthoud pass and struck another riders bike. No one was hurt and the bike damage was very minimal and luckily the peg was recovered. Thanks again to Karla for riding sweep and watching over Carolee, Nina and the rest of the group! We had a blast!!!
